School Counseling

Welcome to the School Counseling Services Page! My name is Mackenzie Keller and it has been a pleasure serving Vine Hill School students since 2014. I have a BA in in Child and Family Development, a MA in Education Counseling, and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC), which allows me to do School Counseling in the K-12 grades.  I am passionate about helping students recognize and feel proud about their uniqueness, and I enjoy providing tools to help students thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.  I also have many book resources to share and loan to parents.

School counseling services are provided to students on a teacher and/or parent-referral basis. Below are some of the services provided at Vine Hill School.

Small Groups - a great way for students to connect with others in a safe, structured space that empowers students to explore, learn and grow. Most small groups meet for 30 minutes, once a week, for 6 weeks. Some groups are longer and some students repeat sessions. Some of the groups offered are:

- Grief/Loss and Divorce Support
- Social Skills
- Anger Management
- Relational Aggression (girl bullying)
- Stress/ Anxiety
- Self -Esteem

- New Student

One-on-one counseling - for students who need a little more support than the group setting.

Sensory-Exploration Lunch Bunch - facilitated by our Special Day Class teacher, Mrs. Amy Lauta, and myself. I'm really excited to be starting this, since we will be exploring with all of our senses and using many fun materials, including aromatherapy.

Classroom Lessons - depending on the needs of the students, this can vary (social skills, bullying,  conflict-management, career exploration, healthy boundaries, etc.)

Career Cafe - this is something new this year that I'm very excited about! All students in grades 3-5 will have the opportunity to explore different careers. Each student will take a personality and interest quiz and discover which careers match those interests. I will be sending an email out to parents explaining more and asking for volunteers to come and speak about specific careers towards the end of the school year.
