Daughter and Me Dance - January 28th

It's ALL ABOUT Scotts Valley on FEBRUARY 25th!

Don’t Miss Out on Scotts Valley Night at the Santa Cruz Warriors!

On February 25th Kaiser Permanente Arena and the Santa Cruz Warriors will host the Windy City Bulls - one of the biggest games of the year for our SC Warriors! – but it’s all about Scotts Valley that night!  We’ll be showcasing our SVHS Band and cheerleaders, Scotts Valley youth basketball teams will scrimmage pre-game and at halftime, and Scotts Valley youth ‘buddies’ will be invited to stand with players during the national anthem, and that’s just a start.

The night will benefit the SV Sports Complex – raising funds to build a stadium and all weather track and field at

Scotts Valley High School.

This is going to be a fun family event celebrating the Scotts Valley community -- but seating is limited so get your tickets now by going to https://groupmatics.events/event/SV.  T-shirts will be available soon!

Thank you Cub Scout Pack 604

The Cub Scout Pack 604 decommission the Vine Hill School American Flag which hangs in front of our school. This flag had become worn and ripped over the years and it desperately needed to be changed.  The Cub Scouts are one of the few organizations authorized to decommission a flag.  Today Cub Pack 604 decommissioned our old flag and presented Vine Hill Elementary with a new American Flag.  This flag was proudly raised in front of Vine Hill School at our Friday Flag Ceremony.

The Power of ONE

Soren Bennick's The Power of One™

A bullying-proofing performance for elementary school children

The Power of One is a series of skits presented by actors who use boxes, colors, and masks to vividly portray what bullying is, what can be done about it, and how every child has the power of one, the power to report and deal with bullying when they see it. The Power of One:

  • Explains the roles in bullying: Bully, Target, and Bystander
  • Shows vivid examples of different types of bullying: Physical, Verbal, Exclusion, and Cyber bullying
  • Alerts children that Targets need help and intervention
  • Encourages students not to be bystanders
  • Emphasizes the need for individual action to make the community a safer, better place
  • Refers children to parents, adults, and teachers for further assistance and instruction

The set for the Power of One consists of a series of boxes that fit inside each other like a Russian egg. Each box is a different color: green, purple, yellow, and white, representing the different roles in the bullying process.

Following the color scheme of the boxes, the actors put on a green mask when they play the Bully, a purple mask when they play the Target, and a yellow mask for the Bystander.

The highlight of the performance is when a volunteer from the audience looks into the Power of One box (which contains a mirror) and sees himself/herself!

This leads to the audience taking the Power of One anti-bullying oath and the conclusion of the performance.
